Akuffo-Krodua (C/R), March 29, GNA – The inhabitants of Akuffo-Krodua in the Central Region have appealed to the government to rehabilitate the five-kilometre feeder road linking the village to the main Awutu-Bawjiase-Accra trunk road.
Mr Atsu Dogbtsey, Chairman of the Akuffo-Krodua Unit Committee, made the appeal last Sunday at a meeting with Mr Albert K. Afful, assemblyman for Osae-Krodua/Adawukwa.
The meeting formed part of Mr Afful’s tour of the area to educate the people on the national population and housing census. According to Mr Dogbtsey, drivers plying the route have taken advantage of the deplorable state of the road to charge 1,000 cedis instead of 500 cedis per passenger.
He said the poor condition of the road has affected the movement of goods and services. Mr Sokodie Azigu, a representative of the Akuffo-Krodua Akpeteshie Distillers Society, said it collects between eight and 10 million cedis annually for the government through waybills, and wondered why part of this revenue could not be used to rehabilitate the road.
Mr Afful assured them that their request would be forwarded to the government for consideration. He advised them to co-operate with enumerators to ensure the success of the census.
