Community benefits from NYEP

Nkwanta (V/R), April 26, GNA-A total of 635 youths have been employed under the National Youth Employment at Nkwanta in the Volta Region from May last year to March 2007. Mr Joshua Makubu, Nkwanta District Employment Coordinator told the Ghana News Agency that of the number 322 were taken as teaching assistants, 287 for agriculture and 26 as sanitation assistants. He disclosed that 60 personnel recruited under the health module were being trained as health assistants.

Mr Makubu announced that 50 other youths would be employed in the later part of the year for the community-policing module. He underscored the importance of the programme, saying that enrolment in schools had increased and schools that were closed down several years due to the lack of teachers had been revived. The Coordinator advised youths in the District to take advantage of the programme to enhance their socio-economic development. April 26 07
