Moslem Chiefs in Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar declare support for Mills

Suhum (E/R), March 27, GNA – Moslem Chiefs in the Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District have expressed their support for Professor John Atta Mills in his bid to contest this year’s presidential election on the ticket of the NDC.

They, however, advised the party to elect a competent and able person devoid of religious and tribal sentiments as his running mate. Chief Issau Musah, Chairman of the Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar Moslem Chiefs Association, said this at a meeting of the Association at Suhum at the weekend.

He thanked the Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District Assembly for its support to the association and the Moslem community in the district towards the construction of an Islamic Girls Senior Secondary School at Suhum.

Chief Musah appealed to the District Assembly and benevolent organisations to assist the association to extend electricity to the new school. Mr. Kwesi Amoo, Suhum Constituency Chairman of the NDC, called on the chiefs to support efforts at reducing the crime in Moslem communities.

Mr. Amoo urged the Moslems to sent their children, especially the girl-child, to school. Mr. Haruna Abedi, Secretary of the Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar Moslem Chiefs Association, said the Suhum Islamic Girls Senior Secondary School offers studies in Arabic and other subjects.
