Apam, April 23, GNA – The Association of Central Region NGOs (ANCER), a coalition of Non-governmental organisations, is to embark on an educational campaign to promote the Mutual Health Insurance Scheme in the region.
Speaking to the GNA at Apam, Alhaji Osman Moro Fukuyamah, ANCER Public Relations Officer (PRO), said the Association took the decision because of its desire to ensure the availability of healthy people to work for the socio-economic advancement of the region and the country. He said the coalition had decided to embark on the programme because it realized that the scheme was the best way of ensuring the good health of the people at an affordable cost.
Alhaji Fukuyamah who is the Executive Director of Women and Youth Development Association, (AWOYDA), an NGO said ANCER had completed the first phase of a Malaria Control Programme in the Cape Coast Municipality, Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, Twifu-Heman-Lower-Denkyira and the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese Districts.
He said it was waiting for funds from the National Malaria Control Programme for the second phase to take-off.
Alhaji Fukuyamah advised the people to take precaution to protect themselves from mosquito bites that could lead to malaria with the on set of the rainy season.
The PRO called for effective collaboration between the coalition and the District, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies and the Regional Coordinating Council to enhance development.
He appealed to NGOs, which had not registered with the Association to do so to enable them to speak with one voice and to coordinate their activities to avoid duplication.
