Transport fares go up

March, 20, GNA- The National Executive Council of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) on Monday announced a fifteen percent increase in transport fares.

The increase takes effect from tomorrow, March 21,2000. A statement signed by the National Chairman of GPRTU, Mr E.K.Gbedemah, said the decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the National Executive Council of the union on Monday March 21, 2000 following the 20 per cent fuel price increase by the Bulk Storage and Transport Company Limited (BOST).

It said the meeting also examined other factors that determine lorry fares including road user fees, tolls and spare parts before arriving at the decision.
