Methodist Church urged to support women empowerment

Kumasi (Ash), April 16, GNA – Very Reverend Samuel Fred Ansu, the Superintendent Minister of the Kumasi circuit of the Methodist Church, has stressed the need for the church to support women’s empowerment to enable them play a leading role in the advance of the nation. He said the church should also support women who are in the majority in the church.

Very Reverend Ansu was preaching at a thanksgiving service to round off a three-day diocesan conference by the Susanna Wesley Mission Auxiliary of the Methodist Church at the Wesley Cathedral at Adum in Kumasi, The theme of the conference was “Women in the Vanguard of the church’s evangelism.”

He said women had played prominent roles in moving the church forward. “During the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Mary Magdalene and other women showed courage in visiting the tomb while the men stayed away.”

Very Rev. Ansu appealed to the Susanna Wesley Mission Auxiliary (SUWMA) to take active part in evangelism programme of the church as their contribution to the fulfilment of the mission and vision of Methodism. 16 April 07
