Seven remanded for stealing ram

Breman Amanfopong (C/R), April 9, GNA – A magistrate’s court at Breman Asikuma on Thursday, remanded seven persons in police custody for stealing a ram valued at 500,000 cedis. They were Abdulai Rahman, Kwesi Afful, Baba Kessiem, Kwesi Ausi, Kwaku Isah, Samuel Adjei Gansah and Awudu Razak Tanko all from Breman Amonfopong near Breman Asikuma.

They pleaded guilty and the court presided over by Miss Cynthia Hammond ordered them to re-appear on April 11, 2007. Police Chief Inspector Gershon Awuyeh, Prosecution told the court that on March 17, 2007, Rahman conspired with the six others, stole his father’s ram and used part for a soup and kept the remaining in a kitchen.

The prosecution said when the accused persons later returned for the soup only to notice that somebody had taken almost all meat away, which got them annoyed.

They took the soup remaining to nearby stream near the town to curse the culprit.

The owner of the ram, Mr. Abdulai Karim, had a hint that the accused person stole the animal and reported the matter to the Police who arrested them and charged the seven with the offence before the court, the prosecution said.
