Education Director urges stakeholder cooperation

Afrancho (Ash.), March 10, GNA – Mr Anthony Yao Boafor, Kwabre District Director of Education, has called on members of School Management Committees (SMCs) to liaise with other stakeholders to ensure the success of the FCUBE programme.

He explained that the FCUBE is an important initiative taken by government to bring quality education to the doorsteps of every child of school-going age, and requires a lot of commitment and dedication from all stakeholders.

Mr Boafor was opening a two-day workshop on “Community school structures” for SMCs, Parents-Teacher Associations (PTAs), assembly members and unit committee members at Afrancho in the Kwabre District of Ashanti.

The workshop, organised by the Ghana Education Service (GES), is aimed at sensitising the participants to their roles to enhance the FCUBE programme. He said the forum was unique because it was the first time such bodies had been brought together as stakeholders in education, and urged them to take the course seriously.

Mr Boafor said the Directorate would set up a machinery to monitor the positive implementation of what they learnt at the workshop. The contribution of the participants would, therefore, go a long way to promote effective teaching and learning in schools.

He urged them not to be discouraged by problems they might encounter but forge ahead to achieve the goals of the FCUBE programme.
