Mason jailed two years for stealing

Kumawu (Ash), March 15, GNA – The Kumawu Circuit Court on Wednesday sentenced Kwadwo Frimpong, a Mason, to two years’ imprisonment with hard labour for stealing.

Frimpong pleaded guilty to the charges.

His wife, Abena Takyiwaa, who was jointly charged with the husband for possessing four silver saucepans, was however, discharged by the court after pleading not guilty.

Police Chief Inspector Ahmed Amoah told the Court presided over by Mr Frank Owusu-Afriyie that on January 19, this year three women residing at Asokore namely Augustina Adjei, Gladys Afrakomah and Amma Fatima, reported to the Police of their missing items which included silver saucepans, hand bags and school uniforms worth 1.4 million cedis and a cash of 1.3 million cedis from the house.

The Prosecution said the following day one of the complainants went to a nearby kiosk to buy an item and saw a saucepan with her name embossed on it being used by Takyiwaa. When she questioned her she mentioned Frimpong as the owner.

Chief Inspector Amoah said a search conducted in the room of Frimpong revealed the school uniforms and a pair of socks, which the complainants identified as theirs.

The Police after investigations charged the couple with the offence.
