Use Jubilee to bring peace to Dagbon- DCE

Yendi, March 7, GNA – Alhaji Mohammed Habib Tijani, the Yendi District Chief Executive, has appealed to the people of Dagbon to use the Golden Jubilee celebration of the country’s independence to foster unity and to resolve the Dagbon chieftaincy dispute amicably. He said the Yendi chieftaincy dispute had not augured well for the development of the area and expressed the hope that things would turn round for the better during this jubilee year.

Alhaji Tijani was addressing a parade of school children and voluntary organisations to mark the golden jubilee anniversary on Tuesday.

He said the area still had a long way to go in search of lasting peace and appealed to the traditional authorities, religious leaders and the youth to continue to give their cooperation and collaboration to the road map to peace in Dagbon.

He commended the government, security agencies, organisations and individuals who had contributed in diverse ways to the several peace initiatives in Dagbon.

Alhaji Tijani said a Jubilee Car Park would soon be opened in the district for the relocation of the Metro Mass Transit Terminus as part of the Golden Jubilee celebration.
