Carpenter gets 10 years for defiling granddaughter

Ho, March 1, GNA-Kwaku Gah-Dickson, 72, alias Gbadangbla a retired carpenter from Tsito-Awudome has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment with hard labour by a Ho Circuit Court for defiling his 10-year old granddaughter.

Gah-Dickson pleaded not guilty to the offence but the court found him guilty.

Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kwame Osei told the court, presided over by Mr. Daniel Mensah that Gah-Dickson and the victim lived about 200 metres apart in the same community. He said on July 17 last year, the victim’s grandmother detected some abnormal behaviour in the victim after she had run an errand for the grandfather.

ASP Osei said the victim told the grandmother that the grandfather had sexually abused her four times when she was confronted. He said the grandmother reported the case to the Police who arrested Gah-Dickson after investigations.

Gah-Dickson however, maintained in his defence that he was impotent and that he could not ejaculate and was therefore innocent, adding that it was a plot to ridicule him. 01 March 07
