Norwegian student donates books to Saint Francis School in Kumasi

Kumasi, Feb 1, GNA – A 27-year-old Norwegian student, Miss Harpa Sif Aubel, has donated books and teaching aids valued at two million cedis to the Saint Francis School at Bomso in Kumasi.

The donation was in support of the school’s library which is also open to other students and pupils in the Bomso community. Speaking at the presentation, Miss Aubel said books were very important to the academic development of a child and that the donation was her contribution to the development of the Bomso community. Miss Aubel, who is conducting a research on development management in Ghana, said she had seen from her interaction with the people, especially children, that Ghanaians cherished reading, hence the donation of the books.

Mr Francis Owusu-Ansah, proprietor of the school, thanked the donor for the gesture.

He said the library, constructed at 1.5 million cedis, was open to the people especially the youth in the Bomso community as a research and reference centre and appealed to them to take advantage to inculcate the habit of reading.
