2BN celebrate Myohaung Day.

Apremdo (W/R), Jan. 25, GNA – A parade to commemorate the 63rd anniversary of the battle of Myohaung was held at the Myohaung Barracks at Apremdo near Takoradi on Tuesday.

Myohaung Day is celebrated annually to mark the victory of the 81st and 82nd Divisions of the Royal West African Frontier Force over the Japanese during World War 11.

A contingent of 150 men and seven officers formed the parade that was commanded by Major A. B. Akanbong.

Personnel from the Air Force, the Navy as well as the Veterans Association took part in the ceremony.

Rev F. Agyemang and Warrant Officer Class One Ahmed Abdulai said Christian and Moslem prayers for soldiers who died in the battle. Mr. Kwesi Blay, the Deputy Western Regional Minister, was among dignitaries who attended the ceremony.
