Farmer shoots two people at funeral grounds

Kyekyewere (Ash), Jan 20, GNA – Kwabena Nyamekye, a 30-year-old farmer at Kyekyewere near Nyinahin in the Atwima-Mponua District, is helping the police in their investigations into his indiscriminate shooting at a funeral, injuring two people.

Madam Adwoa Serwaa, 36, and Kwame Amoako, 14, were taken to the Nyinahin Government Hospital and later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency Mr Amos Acheampong, assemblyman for Kyekyewere, said on January 12 there were two funeral celebrations in the town.

“Nyamekye, without any cause, shot indiscriminately at the funeral grounds and bullets hit the two.” Mr Acheampong said the youth overpowered him and handed over to the police.
