Walewale, (N/R), Dec. 13, GNA – The Walewale Police are searching for three men, who took away 10,000 dollars at gun-point from a private clinic belonging to the Sisters of Charity of Santana, an order of Catholic nuns.
Police Inspector J. K. Wadieh, officer in-charge of the Walewale Police unit, told the Ghana News Agency. He said that at about 0200 hours on December eight, the three men, two of whom were holding a gun and a cutlass each, stormed the residence of the three Catholic Sisters and threatened to kill them if they did not hand over the money.
They had tied the watchman and left him lying outside. The watchman said all the three men spoke fluent Twi. The local dialect is Mamprugu. Inspector Wadieh said one of the Sisters later told the Police that she knew one of the attackers to be a labourer, who was once engaged by a local contractor to carry out some renovation work at the clinic.
He said the watchman was being held for further questioning and that the Police are intensifying their investigations into the incident. GNA
