Women’s Desk donates to orphanage

Apowa (W/R), Jan.4, GNA – The Women’s Desk of the Sekondi-Takoradi Christian Council of Ghana has presented food items estimated at five million cedis to an orphanage, Orphan Cry International, at Apowa near Takoradi.

The items included five mini bags of rice, one maxi bag of sugar, one maxi of maize and one maxi of garri as well as quantity of assorted biscuits.

Mrs Aba Dadson, the immediate Past President of the Women’s Desk of the Council, presented the items to Mrs Mary Young, proprietress of the orphanage.

Mrs Rosemond Sarfo-Eshun, the President of the Women’s Desk of the Council, said the desk considers it as part of its social responsibility to assist the poor, the needy, the disadvantaged and the handicapped. Mrs Sarfo-Eshun said the desk has been making donations to orphanages, institutions for the handicapped and children’ wards of hospitals. She appealed to individuals and organisations to assist needy children.
