Ajumako (C/R), Dec. 31, GNA – Speed Ghana, a non-governmental organization based in Accra, on Friday granted the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam district assembly 40,000 dollars to improve the production of “Alata Samina,” palm and palm kernel oil in the district.
Mr Kenneth Obempong, the District Chief Executive, told the GNA in an interview that the assembly has trained 25 agencies and 100 small business enterprises in the production, labeling and packing of their products.
He said three area councils at Entsi Sunkwa, Breman-Essiam and Enyan have also been trained and assisted by the Community Based Rehabilitation and Development Programme (CBRDP) to draw their own action plans for the year.
Mr Obempong said CBRDP would train two area councils in January 2007 and resource them with 150 million cedis each to undertake any development project of their choice.
On the youth employment and placement programme, he said more than 104 youth have been employed in the teaching sector, 25 in sanitation and waste management while 60 have been selected to undergo training as health aides early next year.
Mr Obempong said the district has also been selected to pilot the school feeding programme at Abrofoa and Awuordo and expressed the hope that the programme would be extended to other communities in the district.
