Fijai (W/R), Dec. 29, GNA – Mrs Cecilia Harry-Quaye, Principal of the Holy Child Training College, has said distance education was the most convenient means for personal and academic development.
She said adults who did not have the opportunity in their youth days must make use it to fulfill their aspirations and dreams.
Mrs Harry-Quaye said this at the matriculation of 773 pupil teachers in the Ghana Education Service (GES) Untrained Teacher Trainees Diploma in Basic Education (UTTDBE) at Fijai on Thursday.
The participants were from Shama Ahanta East metropolis, Nzema East, Mpohor Wassa East, Ahanta West and Jomoro districts. She assured stakeholders that the investments made in the programme would yield fruitful returns.
Mrs Rebbeca E. Dadzie, the Western Regional Director of Education, said the decision of the participants to upgrade themselves was commendable. “Many untrained teachers are ready and willing to accept postings to rural areas and their skills and competencies must be improved to make them more effective” she said.
