Artist jailed three years for stealing

Kumasi, Dec. 27, GNA – A Kumasi Circuit court has sentenced Yaw Frimpong, an artist to three years imprisonment in hard labour for stealing items and cash totalling 15 million cedis. He pleaded guilty to unlawful entry and stealing.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector R.K. Akoto, told the court presided over by Mr Adutwum Mmorosah that on December 8, this year, the complainant who deals in mobile phones, batteries and DVD at the central market in Kumasi had his store broken into and some items stolen. He said a report was made to the police and upon a tip-off the accused was arrested and during interrogation admitted the offence and the stolen items retrieved from a nearby shop.
