Christians must be bold to rebuke wrong – Bishop

The Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church, Rt. Rev. Benjamin Francis Quashie has called on Christians to be bold to tell people engaging in unacceptable practices that they are wrong.

He explained that, though some of the repercussions of such boldness could be painful, that was the only way that the church and society could progress and develop.

Bishop Quashie made the call in his Christmas Message to the people of the Diocese when he delivered a sermon at the Obawale St. Mary’s Anglican Church on Sunday on Christmas Eve. He explained that due to the inability of society to tell people engaged in wrong activities that they were wrong, a lot of such people had engaged in activities that had created unnecessary tension in communities, sometimes leading to loss of lives and property.

Bishop Quashie said because some people want to be unnecessarily powerful in society; they get themselves in illegal activities like the sale of narcotic drugs, falsification of figures and said even non-royals sometimes fight their way to become chiefs, leading to unnecessary tensions.

He said the country is full of opportunities but most Christians could not take advantage of these and urged them to commit themselves to God for him to reveal the opportunities to them to succeed.
