Queen Mothers urged to articulate concerns of women

Kadjebi (V/R), Dec. 23, GNA- Queen Mothers and women who are members of the District Assemblies have been urged to form a formidable front to articulate the concerns of women and children in their communities.

Madam Philomena Modey, a Social worker made the call at a workshop for Queen mothers and assembly women in the Kadjebi district, on the rights and responsibilities of women and their roles in the protection of children on Thursday.

The workshop, organized by Golden Glean Foundation (GOLDDEF), a Hohoe based non-governmental organization (NGO) was sponsored by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

Madam Modey said it was necessary that women opinion leaders were constantly reminded of their obligations to encourage them to step up their advocacy roles.

Okyeame Afua Bour, Secretary to the Kadjebi District queen mothers association thanked the GOLDDEF for the opportunity offered them and assured that the lessons learnt would be useful in the performance of their social and traditional responsibilities.

Mr. Emmanuel Ntumi, Director of GOLDDEF said as people who command enormous credibility in their communities, the queen mothers and assembly women must bring their influence to bear on the mentality and lives of the communities in which they lived.
