Youth cautioned against unsafe sex during Christmas

Ho, Dec. 21, GNA – Mr. Livingnus Acquah-Jackson, the Executive Director of New Seed International, a Ho based non-governmental organization, has cautioned the youth in Ho against unsafe sex during the Christmas celebrations. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview on Wednesday, Mr. Acquah-Jackson said it was important that young people remained committed to the campaign against HIV/AIDS. He said though reports from hospitals in Ho showed low prevalence rate of HIV/AIDS, the level of infection on the field remained high as many people were refusing to go for voluntary counseling and testing. “About 12 to 15 HIV/AIDS related deaths are recorded in the region weekly.” He appealed to churches in Ho to use their pulpits to educate the youth against unprotected sex and other forms of immoral lives. 20 Dec 06
