Three persons on remand for defrauding a peasant farmer

Luhuese (G/A), Dec 20, GNA — Three persons have been remanded into prison custody by the Dangme East Magistrate court for defrauding a peasant farmer of 10 million cedis.

The accused persons, Simpson Nii Kabu Adjololo, a teacher, Godwin Alorgbedi, student of Accra Polytechnic and Wisdom Kwame Addi, pleaded not guilty to defrauding by false pretence.

Chief Inspector Yevugah told the court that on October 5, Mr Tetteh Lopko Quashie, a farmer at Sege, went to the Ada Rural Bank branch at Sege to make enquiries on how to save his money. He said Mr Quashie met Adjololo on his way back who told him that there was a bank where any money deposited within three months could yield 20 per cent interest rate.

He led the Mr Quashie to Alorgbedi in a room where he deposited 10 million cedis.

The three persons, after collecting the money, vanished and all efforts by the complainant to get them proved futile. He lodged a complaint with the Police and the accused persons were arrested.
