Gomoa chiefs appealed to release land for projects

Apam (C/R), Dec 7, GNA – The Presiding Member of the Gomoa District Assembly, Mr Oscar Abban, has appealed to chiefs and landowners in the district to release land for execution of Social Investment Fund (SIF) Projects in the district.

Mr Abban made the appeal at a two-day training workshop for the Gomoa District Projects Review and Appraisal Committee (DISPRAC) under the Social Investment Fund at Apam. The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment organized it.

Mr Abban said the SIF was a very good intervention for the Gomoa District because the assembly did not have the money to finance all its development projects. The Central and Western Regional SIF Zonal Co-coordinator, Ms Elizabeth Nkrumah, said any project sponsored by the DISPRAC aught to have an income-generating component. She said that 50 environmental projects have been identified for the Gomoa District, out of which Apam would have four, provided there is land available
