NGO intensifies campaign against the spread of AIDS/HIV

Winneba, Dec 5, GNA – Ghana Renaissance Foundation, a Winneba-based non-governmental organization, held a day’s AIDS/HIV sensitization forum for about 200 fishermen and fishmongers along the Winneba beach at Winneba on Saturday.

The participants were from Ayipey, Penkye, Aboadze and Ofunyaam all suburbs of Winneba.

Mr Frank Ekow Langdon, Executive Director of the NGO, appealed to the participants not to engage in indiscriminate sex to avoid contracting not only AIDS/HIV but also other sexually transmitted diseases.

Mr. Langdon appealed to the youth in the area to be mindful of their sexual behaviour and urged them to abstain from pre-marital sex. He said the government was spending huge sum of money on the prevention of AIDS/HIV because of its harmful effects on the national economy.

Mr Langdon appealed to parents, philanthropists and other stakeholders in the up-bring of children to intensify their education on the need for them to avoid pre-marital sex.
