Kufuor to attend African-South American Summit

Accra, Nov. 28, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufour leaves Accra for Abuja, Nigeria, on Wednesday to attend the First African-South American Summit.

A press release signed by the Press Secretary to the President and Presidential Spokesman, Mr Andrew Awuni said the Summit was expected to deliberate on bilateral relations and economic cooperation among African countries and selected countries from South America.

Countries expected to participate in the Summit from South America include Brazil, Argentina, Suriname, Venezuela, Uruguay and Peru. President Kufuor is scheduled to hold one-on-one bilateral talks with the Presidents of these countries.

It said Ghana had long standing relations with these countries and it was expected that the Summit would further strengthen the cordial relations that they enjoyed.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and NEPAD, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and other senior Government officials would accompany the President.

He is expected back on Thursday.
