Man before court for issuing dud cheque for payment of lotto

Assin Foso (C/R), Nov 27, GNA- Dominic Arthur Assumang, District Manager of the “Assin Foso SIKA ABA’ a cocoa buying agency was on Friday put beforet the district magistrates’ court at Assin Foso for issuing a dud cheque for payment of lotto he staked.

He pleaded guilty and was granted 20 million cedis bail to reappear on Friday December 1, 1006.

Prosecuting, ASP Akwasi Asafo -Agyei told the court, presided over by Mr Joseph Blay that on June 28 this year, the accused staked lotto amounting to 12,848,000 cedis from one Mr Charles Buabeng, a lotto agent.

He said he then issued a cheque to cover 10 million cedis as part payment to be withdrawn at the Assin Foso branch of the Agriculture Development Bank on July 3, but it was dishonoured that day. ASP Asafo-Agyei said Mr Buabeng spotted the accused who had been arrested for another offence at the Assin Foso police station and reported him to the police and he admitted the offence during an interrogation.
