Ex-Ghana Airways workers rendered homeless

Some former workers of the defunct national carrier Ghana Airways have been rendered homeless by an eviction exercise carried out by the official liquidator of the defunct airline.

The exercise, which should have taken place two weeks ago, was postponed to allow more time for the former workers to relocate.

The liquidator’s repossession action is to enable it dispose off the airline’s properties to pay its debts.

A combined team of police and private security descended on the properties and threw the occupants out before locking the premises.

Some of them have friends and relatives to keep their belongings with but others told JOYFM they had nowhere to go.

The affected persons contested the legality of the liquidator’s forceful ejection exercise because of a pending application for a stay of execution before the law courts.
