Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital receives four dialysis machines

Sekondi, Nov. 25, GNA 96 Members of Ghana Union Mannheim and Lufwigshafen, a Ghanaian Non-Profit organisation based in Germany, have presented four Dialysis machines used in the treatment of kidney ailments, 30 hospital beds and five bed cabinets worth 1.2 billion cedis to Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital at Sekondi.

The organisation had presented 21 hospital beds and 15 bed cabinets to Koforidua Government Hospital and 10 hospital beds and 15 bed cabinets to Hohoe Government Hospital.

Mr George Essel Haizel, Vice President of the organisation making the presentation said he was optimistic the items would supplement efforts of the hospitals to provide excellent health care delivery to the people.

He said the organisation was established to offer assistance to needy institutions and individuals in Ghana.

Mr Haizel said it had constructed a 10-seater KVIP for Ahmadiyya Primary School near Suhum and had planned to construct a Vocational and Information Technology School at Suhum.

Mr Asare Bediako Micah, Head of Administration of Effia-Nkwanta hospital receiving the items commended the organisation for its assistance to improve health care delivery because most of the hospital beds and bed cabinets were old and worn out.

During a tour of the X’Ray Department, Mr Solomon Tagoe, Deputy Chief Radiographer, said the mammography, screening unit and most essential equipment at the department broke down five years ago. He said spare parts for the equipments could not be obtained because the company which manufactured them was no longer in existence. Mr Tagoe said a mobile X’Ray used for patients in the wards was the only equipment being used in the department and patients in serious conditions had to be conveyed to the department while others were referred to other hospitals. 25 Nov. 06
