Parliament Reconvenes Today

Parliament, which went on almost three months recess, reconvenes today, Tuesday, 19th October, for the Third Meeting of the Third Session.

According to an agenda for the meeting, released by the Acting Clerk, Mr. K. E. K. Terchie, the House is expected to enact 13 bills, among which is the Constitution (Amendment) Bill.

The others are Vice-President (Succession) Bill, Political Parties Bill, Immigration Bill, Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, and Stool Lands Boundaries Settlement (Repeal) Bill.

Ministers are to answer 227 questions listed, while four Instruments and 12 papers will be laid before the House.

Among the Instruments are the Chieftaincy (Members of Regional House of Chiefs) Instrument, 1999, High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 1999, Breast

Feeding Promotion Regulation, 1999 and the Wetlands Management (Ramsar Sites) Regulations, 1999.

The Report of the Auditor-General on the Public Accounts of Ghana for the Year Ended 31st December, 1998 (Ministries, Departments and other Agencies), and the Ratification of the Statute on the International Criminal Court (ICC) are among papers to be laid.

Also to be laid are annual reports from the Serious Fraud Office, the Fisheries Commission and the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission.
