Farmer, 45, mistakenly shot for game

Nyinahin (Ash), Nov. 20, GNA – The police at Nyinahin in the Atwima-Mponua District are investigating a case in which Mallam Basare Usumanu, a 45-year-old farmer was allegedly shot by one Kwasi Basare, a hunter, when the former went to his cocoa farm in the early hours of November 14 to collect fermented cocoa beans.

Usumanu did not die and is recovering from gunshot wounds at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

According to Chief Inspector David Nkrumah of the Nyinahin Police, Usumanu on that morning was in the process of collecting his cocoa beans when he was allegedly shot by Basare.

The Police officer said the victim called out the name of Basare who had attempted to flee but was compelled to return to take the victim to Adupri, from where he was transferred to KATH for medical attention.
