Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Nov. 20, GNA – Ace Ghanaian highlife musician, Abrantie Amakye Dede, has offered to pay the school fees of a 12-year-old amputee, Clement Agyemang, who lost one of his legs to a strange disease in 1998 at Dormaa-Ahenkro.
Master Agyemang, a primary four pupil of Pael Preparatory School at Dormaa-Ahenkro, who plays football with his peers and rides bicycle on one leg, caught the eyes of the music star while he was attending a funeral at Dormaa-Ahenkro.
In a telephone interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Abrantie Amakye Dede, who had already offered 500,000 cedis to cover the boy’s second term fees, explained that he was touched by the boy’s plight and decided to assist him to go through his education.
“Watching the boy, I noticed that he has inherent talents and I thought the best way to unearth the talents was to provide him with education”, Abrantie Amakye Dede said.
He noted that many handicapped persons could be assisted to establish themselves rather than being left on the streets begging for alms.
The star musician said he was prepared to assist the boy for as long as he would be able to do so.
Meanwhile, the boy’s father, Mr Kwame Agyemang, has expressed gratitude to the musician for the gesture and promised to provide the boy with the necessary parental guidance to ensure that Amakye Dede’s effort did not go to waste.
