TUC yet to read the full Budget – Aferi

Accra, Nov. 17 GNA – The Ghana Trades Union Congress (TUC) on Friday said it could not make definite comments on Thursday’s Budget and Financial Statement to Parliament since it was yet to read the full report.

Mr Kwaku Darko Aferi, Head of Public Affairs Department, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said it would be very difficult for the leadership of the TUC to make pronouncements on sections of the budget statement when it had not read the full report.

“What we all received were pieces of information from what the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu read to Parliament yesterday (Thursday).”

Mr Aferi said the TUC could only make its position known when the leadership had consulted the Steering Committee of the 17 national unions that were affiliated to the association.

He said the TUC would also use the consultation period to discuss the government’s decision to set up a Fair Wages Commission and other related issues.
