Ho petroleum products dealers deny adulterating products

Ho, Nov. 10, GNA – Managers of fuel stations in the Ho Municipality have denied allegations of fuel adulteration levelled against them by the Tema Oil Refinery on Wednesday.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency in Ho on Friday, Mr Philip Mensah, spokesman for the petroleum dealers including GOIL, Allied, Total, Shell and Glory Oil stations, said no official of the TOR had visited any of the mentioned stations this year to take samples of their products. He said until the media report about the alleged adulteration they only knew the Ghana Standard Board as the sole authority that sampled their products for analysis.

Mr Mensah said the Managers were surprised by the media report and added that no official of the TOR had visited any of the fuel stations last month as carried by the media.

He, however, called on the authorities to contact the Standards Board to do sampling if there was the need.

“Premix fuel is meant for fishing and is used by operators of outboard motors, we are not near the sea or any river so we are not supplied with premix,” he stated.

When contacted Mr Winfred Tetevi, Regional Officer of the Ghana Standard Board said the Board had not received any complaint from the public about fuel adulteration.

“We have been buying fuel from the fuel stations and have not experienced any problem with our vehicles,” he added.
