VRA supports pupils of Ada and Volta

Ada, Nov. 08, GNA — The Volta River Authority (VRA), has donated 8000 pieces of exercise books to basic school pupils in the Dangme East District of the Greater Accra Region and some Districts in the Volta Region.

Madam Abla Fiadjoe, the Acting Director, Corporate Service of VRA, told the GNA that this year alone the company has spent over 120 million cedis in donating to schools and said South Tongu, Anum, Bosomgua in the Asuogyaman District as well as Shaman Ahanta Traditional area in the Volta Region are yet to benefit from such donations. She urged the pupils to study hard, be of good behaviour and make good use of the books.

The Dangme East District Chief Executive, Mr Israel Narh Baako, urged parents to pay attention to their ward’s education since education holds the key to success.

He expressed regret about the way books provided by the Government are being destroyed as some parents use them to sell items on the market.

Madam Hannah Kitcher, a representative from the Dangme East District office of the Ghana Education Service (GES), received the books and thanked the VRA for their kind gesture and hoped the donations would be put to good use to improve academic performance.
