GREDA worried about high cement prices

Accra, Nov. 6, GNA – The Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA) says it is concerned with increases in the price of cement without any prior information.

A statement signed by Dr Alexander Tweneboa, President of GREDA, noted that currently the price of a 50 kg bag of cement ranges between 59,350 cedis and 75,000 cedis, depending on which region one bought it. =93If the price of cement is allowed to escalate it would soon be out of hand and we could very soon see a situation where a bag of cement will cost 100,000 cedis,=94 Dr. Tweneboa cautioned.

He noted that the high price of cement was pushing up the cost of housing and construction, warning that it could adversely impact on the country’s drive to achieve the housing and construction component of Millennium Development Goals.
