Tema assembly members fail to elect Presiding Member

Tema, Oct. 31, GNA 96 The 80-member Tema Municipal Assembly (TMA) on Monday failed to elect a Presiding Member after its inauguration by Major Courage Quashigah, the Minister of Health.

Mr Frank Asante, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the TMA told the Ghana News Agency that the members were not ready as those interested needed time to rally their supporters around.

He said the election was put to vote and it turned out that majority were in favour of adjourning the election. Mr Asante said the election would not take too long since the Assembly’s Module Standing Orders demand that a presiding member be elected on the inaugural day.
