Youth employment programme takes off in Amansie West

Mpatuom (Ash), Oct 22, GNA – Mr Ben Kwakye-Adeefe, Amansie West District Chief Executive, has stated that the government’s effort to engage more youth in employment is a positive sign of raising the standard of living of the people and to reduce poverty in the country. He said so far 150 assistant teachers had been recruited and posted as part of the Youth Employment Programme, adding that additional 100 teachers would be recruited as soon as the Ministry of Manpower, Youth and Employment gave the approval.

Mr Kwakye-Adeefe stated this during a familiarisation tour of communities to inspect development projects and to interact with the people.

The communities visited included Tetrem, Mpatuom, Korko, Jenniso, Asarekrom, Essuowin, Abrense and Moseaso.

The DCE announced that 454 million cedis has been earmarked for the recruitment and training of community policing.

He appealed to the people especially the youth to be circumspect in their demand for development projects for their communities. The people lauded the government for some of its policies such as the provision of potable water, classroom blocks, electricity, the National Health Insurance Scheme, the capitation grant and the school feeding programme.

They appealed to the government to pay attention to the deplorable nature of road network in the area.

Nana Akwasi Ofori, Gyasehene of Tetrem, praised the DCE for his humility, hard work and commitment to the development of the district and pledged to provide two packets of roofing sheets and 30 bags of cement for the rehabilitation of the local primary school.
