Computer Laboratory Project abandoned

Tamale, Oct. 22, GNA – Construction work on Computer Laboratory Project in some selected Senior Secondary Schools in the Northern Region had come to a halt, school authorities said in Tamale.

The contractors of the projects cannot be traced and some of the buildings were either at the foundation or at the window levels.

The heads made this known at a meeting with the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris and some District Chief Executives. Alhaji Idris organised the forum to solicit district assemblies’ interventions in the provision of school infrastructure to senior secondary schools in the area.

The heads said they did not know how the contracts were awarded and as such, no documents had been given them to that effect. They said the project was dear to the their schools and urged the Alhaji Idris to do his best to get back the contractors to start with the projects.

Alhaji Idris said the Regional Coordinating Council had no documents on the Computer Laboratory Project and appealed to the Ministries of Education and Local Government to help find the contractors to complete the project.

He urged the heads to take advantage of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) by acquiring land for their schools to undertake food crops production to help feed their students. 22 Oct. 06
