The Royal Kotire family at Mprim in the Mampong traditional area has announced the destoolment of the Kontihene of Mprim Nana Kwakye Amoateng Amaniapong over what they refer to as gross misconduct and other charges. Addressing a Press Conference the spokesman of the family Mr. J.K Amofa said the decision to destool him was based on 38 charges which included disregard towards the norms associated with the stool.
Other charges included selfishness, disrespect towards family elders, weak morals and others. He said as part of the rituals to destool the chief a ram was slaughtered bottle schnapps presented. He continued that the chief was given four months to respond to the charges for which he failed to make any appearance. Mr. Amofa stated that by his actions the chief has abdicated himself from the stool necessitating the enstoolment of a new Kontihene of Mprim.
