Senior Chinese advisor meets Asantehene

Abdul’ahat Abdulrixit, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, China’s top advisory body, met on Wednesday with king of Ghana’s Ashanti people Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The king of the west African nation’s Ashanti ethnic group was enthroned in April 1999. The Ashanti kingdom, which was founded in late 1600s, remains an influential force in modern Ghana.

The king was here on a visit to China from Oct. 16 to 25 at the invitation of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. Besides the capital city of Beijing, the king and his entourage will visit Xi’an, capital of northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, and China’s economic hub of Shanghai.
