Dental clinic for Obuasi govt hospital

Obuasi (Ash), Oct. 17, GNA – Work on a dental clinic for the Obuasi Government Hospital will be completed by the end of January next year. The project comprises two dental treatment rooms, laboratory, office, waiting room, x-ray department and toilet facilities and is Enraf Nonius Bv Project of Netherlands is financing it. Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony, the Acting Ashanti Regional Director of Health Services, Dr Joe Bonney, commended the Ghana Health Service (GHS) for introducing specialist health care services to the districts.

He said the Regional Health Directorate would support the project and gave the assurance that they would be monitoring the progress of the project.

Dr V.A Mensah, Medical Superintendent of Obuasi, said the hospital was upgraded from a health centre in 1996 and that 10 years on it had existed without a dental care facility for over 200,000 people the hospital serves in the municipality. The Medical superintendent said all dental cases had to be referred to the Dunkwa Government Hospital.
