Accra, Oct. 17, GNA – A former Deputy Minister, Mr Thomas Broni has urged delegates to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Congress to elect Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyeman, Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, as the flag bearer of the Party.
He said Mr Owusu-Agyemang ‘is the man, who can be trusted with the stability and peace of this country’.
He said voters needed Leaders, who could provide stability and security; politicians with experience, temperament, track record and skills they could trust.
“The Ghanaian voting public has started asking 96 whom can we trust with the stability of this country?”
Addressing a workshop for constituency women organizers in the Volta Region over the weekend, Mr Broni said there must be utmost regard for the rules of engagement.
He said it was necessary to maintain the New Patriotic Party in government after 2008, adding that the only way to do that would be to present a candidate 93who is visionary, diligent and hardworking.
“He must be one who will be acceptable to Ghanaians because of his solid background.”
Mr Broni noted that where there were so many candidates 93as we do have now; the Party faced the danger of some aspirants turning to abnormal behaviour out of desperation.
“They may engage themselves in frivolous attacks on others, gratuitously insulting them and using inappropriate language in place of sound argument, decorum and efforts to win support and votes with superior reasoning.”
He praised the Executives of the Party in the Volta Region for taking a bold initiative to build the capacity of women organizers, charging them to work hard and to iver not less than five seats in the Rgion come 2008.
Mr Broni said Mr Owusu-Agyeman was malleable to the Party and the current administration, and called on the women organizers not to forget about the candidate’s experience in private life, business and international connections in politics.
He said those attributes made Mr Owusu-Agyemang the rightful candidate to lead the NPP to a resounding victory in 2008. He emphasized that corporate Ghana needed managers, who had enviable pedigree in private, political and international circles, so as to compete appropriately in the comity of nations.
