Unemployed jailed for stealing roofing sheets

Kumawu-Ashanti), Oct. 04, GNA – A Kumawu Magistrate’s court has sentenced Yaw Frimpong 32, unemployed on his own plea to two years imprisonment in hard labour for stealing 10 roofing sheets valued at 500,000 cedis belonging to Victory International School at Kumawu-Bodomase in Ashanti.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Daniel Ntow told the court presided over by Mr Frank Owusu-Afriyie that on the night of September 17, this year, the accused entered the school premises during a heavy downpour and stole the roofing sheets.

He said the accused hid the roofing sheets in the room of one Yaw Acheampong without his knowledge, and when Acheampong found them the following day, he reported to the police who retrieved them to the police station.

Police Inspector Ntow said the accused went to the police station and claimed ownership of the roofing sheets but was arrested after the school authorities had identified them. He said the accused was charged after investigations. 04 Oct. 06
