Date for District Level Elections remains unchanged

Accra, Sept. 22, GNA – The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment on Friday assured Ghanaians that the Electoral Commission (EC) was set for the District Level Elections to come off on Tuesday September 26 as scheduled.
Mr Kofi Poku-Adusei, Deputy Minister, in a release issued from the Ministry, denied rumours that the elections had been rescheduled. It said at a meeting the Ministry held with the EC on Thursday, they found that the Commission had already started moving materials into the regions and districts in readiness for the vote.
“It was made clear that such rumours have no basis and that voting materials have started moving from the headquarters of the Commission to various offices in the regions and districts.=94
The Ministry, therefore, appealed to all eligible voters to turn out in their numbers at the polling stations to exercise their rights. “The Ministry would urge all to abide by the rules and regulations governing the conduct of elections in the country. This would ensure incident-free election,” the release said.
It expressed the hope that assembly members would work hard to justify the confidence of the electorate in them for the betterment of their assemblies.
