Kan Dapaah Swears In NPP NY Exces

On September 14, 2006, the Minister of Interior, Hon. Albert Kan Dapaah, who was attending a UN Conference on Immigration in New York City, took time off his busy schedule to meet with NPP members.

After elections the following people were sworn in as the new executives of NPP- New York: Mr. Steve Mallory, Chairman; Mr. Benjamin Afrifa, Vice Chairman; Mr. Edward Ntim-Addae, General Secretary; Dr Kwasi Achampong, Treasurer; Ms. Edna Arthur, Organizer and Kwabena Manu, Public Relations Officer.

Hon. Kan Dapaah charged the new executives to lead with integrity and never stop to tell the story of the achievements of the NPP government in Ghana. He challenged them to think creatively to find ways to pool the resources of the Ghana Diaspora for private and profitable investments back home. Ghanaians outside should use their skills to package business deals to obtain financing for projects. He stressed that a new mindset is needed in Ghana that will make people appreciate the value of time, clean environment and nationhood. He assured them that the government is doing everything to investigate and bring all guilty parties of the recent illicit drug scandals to appropriate punishment. The NPP government is fully aware of the incalculable effects of illegal and harmful drugs and will not allow Ghana to be a haven for anyone.

In his emotional remarks, the outgoing New York NPP Chairman, Nana Amo Adjepong, urged the members and new executive to forge ahead and never be discouraged, always putting the supreme interest of Ghana first. He thanked Mr Kofi Boateng, the outgoing General Secretary for his consistent good work and sacrifice for Ghana. The members expressed their profound appreciation for the brave leadership that Nana Amo Adjepong has displayed in the face of the tyranny that used to rule and threaten Ghana, even preceding the formation of NPP. They unanimously urged Mr. Boateng to run for the Chairmanship of the North America NPP in the upcoming Congress in Washington DC in order that a bigger group can benefit from his considerable and proven skills.
