Labourer jailed for stealing plantain

Goaso (B/A), Sept. 18, GNA – A 31-year-old labourer of Lumber and Logs Limited in Kumasi has been sentenced to three months imprisonment in hard labour by the Magistrate’s court at Goaso, for stealing three bunches of plantain. Kwame Oppong pleaded guilty to stealing the plantain and was sentenced on his own plea.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Ben Brew, told the court presided over by Mr. J. Q. Owusu that, the convict on August 11, this year, sneaked into the farm of Madam Afrah at Amanmayo, near Goaso and stole three bunches of plantain.

He brought the plantain to Goaso for sale but was arrested by a witness and sent to the police station. Madam Afrah detected the loss of her plantain later on the farm and was informed by neighbours that someone had been arrested in connection with a plantain case.
