Chief Imam supports homo conference ban

Accra, Sept. 6, GNA – Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, National Chief Imam, has congratulated the Government for turning down the application for gays and lesbians to hold an international conference in Ghana. A statement issued from the Office of the Chief Imam on Wednesday called on religious bodies in the country to support the Government in this venture for the sake of morality and the spiritual values of Ghanaians and to prevent calamities and curses. It said both the Koran and the Bible abhorred these immoral tendencies and called on all Imams and the clergy to fight this alien practice in Africa. The statement said the fundamental human rights of a human being and freedom of association did not supersede their spiritual value and called on Ghanaians not to support that canker.
