Ramsey training centre at Abetifi gets new bungalow

Abetifi, Aug. 31, GNA – The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr Yaw Frempong Manso, on Thursday dedicated a 325-million-cedi four-bedroom bungalow for the Ramsey Training Centre (RTC) meant to solve the accommodation problem of the centre at Abetifi.

He also broke the ground for the construction of a 2.1-billion-cedi ultra modern conference centre for the RTC. The bungalow was constructed and donated to the centre by Dr Martin Agyen-Sampong, a 70-year-old retired civil servant and a native of Abetifi.

Dr Agyen-Sampong had also constructed a block of six classrooms, office and a store, valued at 330 million cedis for the Presbyterian Preparatory School at Abetifi last year.

Receiving the keys to the bungalow, Rt Rev. Frimpong Manso thanked Dr Agyen-Sampong for the donation and appealed to Kwahu citizens and members of the church to construct more bungalows and hostels for the Centre and the Presbyterian University College (PUC) to solve the accommodation problem facing lecturers and students.

He said although the PUC was established by the Church, it could not alone cater for all its needs and urged members of the church to contribute towards the running of the university.

The chairperson of the Board of Directors of the RTC, Nana Oforiwaa Koranteng, appealed to the Kwahuhene Daasebre Akuamoa Boateng II, the District Assembly and the Community Water and Sanitation Agency to solve the acute water problem facing the Centre and the PUC. Dr Agyen-Sampong said he decided to put up the bungalow in honour of his late wife, Grace Agyen-Sampong, to help solve the accommodation problem facing the centre.

Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng commended Dr Agyen-Sampong for his kind gesture and urged members of the Church to emulate him by providing more buildings for the RTC and the university.
