IRS embark on community education at Adansi South

New Edubiase (Ash), Aug 29, GNA – The Adansi South District Office of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has embarked on a community sensitisation programme to educate the people in the district on the need to pay their income taxes regularly. Mr George Owusu Ntiamoah, District Collector of the Service who made this known to the Ghana News Agency at New Edubaise, said most people in the rural communities were unaware of their civic responsibilities and there was the need for intensive education to honour their tax obligations.

He said the exercise, which had now covered about half of the communities in the district, has yielded good results since most of the people were now coming to pay their taxes willingly. Mr Ntiamoah said revenue collection in the district had improved considerably since a permanent office of the IRS was opened at New Edubiase and appealed to the people to honour their tax obligations by filling their tax returns regularly. 29 Aug 06
